This website (eddy-chow.com) is the personal website of Eddy Chow, based in Hong Kong. It is written with the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance (Cap. 486) in mind, and with the EU/UK GDPR for visitors from those regions.
What this site collects
Nothing you type. There are no forms, accounts or comments on this site. If you email me, I receive what you choose to send and use it only to reply to you.
Analytics — only if you accept. With your consent, the site loads Google Analytics 4 to count page views and see which pages are useful. Google Analytics sets first-party cookies (named _ga and _ga_<ID>) and processes information such as pages visited, approximate location, device and browser. Google signals and advertising personalisation are switched off. If you decline, Google Analytics is not loaded and no analytics cookies are set.
Your choice is remembered in your browser's local storage (key ec-consent). It never leaves your device.
Services that see technical data
- Hosting — Vercel. Like any web host, Vercel receives standard request data (such as IP address and browser) to deliver the pages and protect the service.
- Fonts — Adobe Fonts. Sofia Pro is served from Adobe Fonts (use.typekit.net). Adobe receives standard request data when the font loads, used for font delivery and licensing. Adobe Fonts does not set cookies on this site.
- Analytics — Google (only after consent, see above).
How long data is kept
Google Analytics data is kept for the retention period set in the site's Google Analytics account and is then deleted automatically. Emails are kept only as long as needed for the conversation.
Your rights
You can change your cookie choice at any time with the "Cookie settings" button below or in the footer. You can ask what personal data I hold about you, ask me to correct it or delete it, by emailing eddy@eddy-chow.com.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date below will change too.
